ROOTS IN RANCHING & RODEO

Julie is a 3rd generation horsewoman & rodeo cowgirl. Born Julie Denise Jolley in Ft. Worth, TX., at age 7 she began competing in local Texas playdays, jackpot barrel races, and youth rodeos. She began showing her horses at AQHA breed shows, competing in barrel racing, pole bending, western showmanship, and western pleasure. As a teenager she continued to compete in North Texas High School Rodeo Assoc., open rodeos and began taking outside horses to train at the age of 22. Julie went on to get her WPRA & IPRA permits where she competed and placed at some professional rodeos. Julie has won multiple saddles in the barrel racing event, placed at major barrel futurities in the late 80's and trained dozens of world class barrel & pole horses. Many of the horses trained by Julie went on to win numerous titles & awards and were money earners in several associations including National Little Britches, Pro Youth, AJRA, NHSRA, WPRA, IPRA & AQHA.
Her grandfather RB Jolley was a professional bronc rider and horse trainer and won money and titles throughout Texas and Oklahoma. Julie's father Jerry Jolley was a top Texas bull rider in the amateur ranks who, like his father, was passionate about the sport of rodeo. He finally hung up his own spurs when he became a prominent Ft. Worth businessman, but he enjoyed keeping his only little girl mounted on the best Quarter horses that they could afford at the time. Julie was blessed to be born into a rich heritage of American Quarter Horses and deep rodeo roots. Her mother Glenda Jolley was a top producing realtor with Century 21 in Bedford, TX. Julie was basically raised in rodeo and real esate!
Her passion through the years has been buying, selling, training and breeding top quality barrel horses. Though she has not competed in nearly 5 years, her son Ryan Storms carries on the family rodeo tradition as he competes in the calf roping and team roping events. Ryan was a 2008 GA. High School Rodeo state finalist in both events as a rookie roper and missed the National High School Finals by 2 spots. He is passionate about football and is putting his rodeo on the back burner to attend Furman University in the fall of 2009 on a football scholarship. It will not surprise his family though for him to return to some form of rodeo when he receives his education. When not attending Ryan's college football games, Julie hopes to go back to competing later in 2009.
Some of the Storms' best horses have even made their way into major motion pictures!! One of Julie's top barrel/rodeo horses was used in the 1992 Warner Brothers movie with George Strait "Pure Country". The late Colonel's King Zanta aka "Anna" was used throughout the film. This mare was a multiple saddle winner, placed WPRA, and was an own daughter of Colonel Freckles. Julie also was fortunate to work with Charlie Daniels on a live music production sponsored by Slim Jim in 1987. In addition, Julie gives much credit to the late barrel racing trainer and former jockey Larry Stevens for helping her to become not only a better barrel racer and rider, but a sought after trainer while living in Texas. Julie feels blessed to have ridden with him for many years. Larry won major barrel futurity and derby titles, helped top barrel racers with their mounts including Charmayne James, Angie Meadors, Fallon Taylor and other professional and amateur barrel racers. Larry kept the late, great, Dr. Nick Bar at his Texas ranch for the Taylor family and competed on him as well.
Julie is your "Texas Connection" to some of the best rodeo horses going down the road today. If you are seeking a world class barrel horse, or just a fun, safe & sound horse to take to the local barrel races and horse shows, she can find the right one and make sure it fits you!! Call Julie today for any horse or real estate related need!!
